#9 Mr. Gieco - Es La Bomba

One day a year or two ago I was digging through tracks on Juno and came across this modern cumbia heatrock. I don’t know much of anything about Mr. Gieco and this seems like a bit of a departure for the Spanish dance label that released this track, but they sure hit the nail on the head with this one. Hard drums, loud accordion, and the production really works on a big system, which makes sense considering the label usually aims their tunes at the Ibiza dancefloor. The vocal is a little over the top, but let’s be honest, you’re not gonna play this tune unless you’re ready to really turn a crowd out, so I think it works.
